Q. How much does it cost to install a home solar rental system? A. You have zero expense for our residential solar panel rental. You pay first and last month's rent and tha's it.
Q. How can you afford to install this complete home solar rental system with no upfront cost to the consumer? A. We handle everything ourselves from the solar grade silicon to the final installation. We create savings at each stage of the production. Plus we are building one of the largest plants for producing solar panels in the world. When you combine our vertical integration with our economies of scale, we are able to produce the final product at less than half the cost of many of our competitors.
Q. How does the company make money with home solar rental if the homeowner does not pay for the solar system? A. Homeowners simply pay on a flat rate plan for the electricity the system is designed to generate. The systems are bank financed and after so many years the system is paid for then the company earns income from the rental.
Q. And how is that rent calculated? A. Our solar power rates are based on the EIA rate your utility company reported in 2005 and the size of the system. It is a rate per kwh (kilowatt hour) of power produced by the solar power system we install for you. In other words, you are renting a solar power system and the rate you pay is tied to the amount of electricity your system produces. So lets say you need 1000 kwh of electricity per month and your solar power system supplies 80% of that need. Then you would be paying 800 kwh multiplied by your cents per kwh rate. If, for example, your rate is 10 cents per kwh, then your monthly bill would be $80.
Q. But I am paying the same rate I was paying before, right? A. It can be the same but most often less. We base our rates on the yearly average for your utility from 2005. Since rates tend to go up regularly, many customers will save money on their first bill, and the savings will only increase as the years pass as this rate will be locked-in for 10 years at a time. We provide a calculator on our website that will show specifically what you can save with your particular utility. Many customers save thousands by switching to a solar energy supply. Our whole mission is to help people join the pollution solution and stop being part of the problem.
Q. How long of a contract do they have to sign? A. 10 years with an optional 10 year renewable when the first 10 years is up. The panels are guaranteed with a 25 year life.
Q. What happens if I want to sell my house? A. You have three options. First, you can ask us to move the solar rental system to your new house. We do that one time for free in the second 10 years. If it is in the first 10 years there will be a fee. Second, you can transfer the contract to the new owner for free. This will add value to your house because as energy rates keep going up like they are, they may be as much as 60% higher in 10 years, then your buyer would get a 60% decrease on their energy bill because of your foresight. The final option is that you can contact us, tell us that you just want to end the contract and we will remove the unit. With the third option you do lose your last month's rent but you will have saved much more over the years. These options are explained fully before your okay the system design to be installed.
Q. Say I want a solar rental system on my house. How does it work? What is the process? A. I will help you each step of the way. There are some simple questions to answer about your amount of shade, the direction of your roofline, etc. After you sign the application and your place in the queue comes up for your area, a solar engineer will come to your house to design your home solar rental system.
Q. What if I don't like the design? Am I still obligated to the contract? A. No. You can back out of the contract without any penalty.
Q. I like the design. I want the home solar rental system. What's next? A. The installation usually takes less than one day. The permit process can take 30 - 90 days depending on how cooperative the local utility is but we handle everything. All you do is sit back and feel good knowing you are using clean renewable energy to power your home.
Q. What happens if something breaks or goes wrong? A. We have a complete worry free performance guarantee. If the unit ever stops working, one of our franchisees will fix it for free. The customer has no solal rental charges until his home solar rental system is working again so we are motivated to get it fixed fast.
Q. What if my kid hits a baseball through one of the solar panels? A. It is just like renting a car or a TV. You are responsible for returning it in good condition. We recommend that customers contact their homeowners insurance to double check that the solar panel rental will be covered under their policy. Usually there is not a problem.
Q. Will I save any money upgrading my home to solar power? 2. Systems are designed with a solar assurance guarantee. It will be designed to generate a specific amount of electricity in a year's time. This will be based on a low historical solar radiance year over the last 30 years. If the home solar system produces less than plan the homeowner is refunded the difference. If the home solar system produces over plan which it should do most years, the amount over plan is free electricity. 3. Referrals. 5% credit of the monthly bill of the home solar rental system from the referrer's home. example: $100 monthly bill $5/mth -- 60/yr -- 1200/20years This option could eliminate your solar energy bill. 4. Currently there is no tax for electricity you produce yourself. If your electric bill is $100 a month and you pay 7% taxes then you would be saving another $84 a year over your current bill. This would be another $1680 savings over 20 years and that is if taxes never went up.
Q. Wouldn't I save money in the long run if I just bought the solar power system? A. Actually, no. Solar power rental can save you a significant amount of money, and it protects you from a large investment risk. We can help the consumer evaluate their options so they can make a solid decision. Our goal is to have renewable solar power producing 25% of our residential energy supply in the year 2025. To make that happen, we removed every barrier we could find to sustainable solar energy. We make solar simple.
Q. So why would someone sign up now? A. First, because we lock-in their rate as soon as they sign up. It will always be a great option compared to your utility but the sooner a home is registered the lower the rate will be for 10 years at a time. Second, they get in line so they can get their home solar rental system sooner. Third, the more homeowners signed up in any given market the sooner a franchisee will want to position themselves to start installing those who wants sustainable energy.
